Garland "Scott" E. Surratt, Sr, 83, of Mason City passed away at his home on Thursday, May 30, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born on October 22, 1940 in Peoria to Harold and Irene (Pedigo) Surratt. On
January 9, 1993 in Palm Beach, Florida he married Charlotte Muse, she survives.
Also surviving are 8 children: Milee (Mike) Smith, Debbie (Gary) Wood, Clifford (Birgit) Surratt, Wanda Surratt, Johnny (Wendy) Smith, Michael (Ryan) Smith, Shawn (Havannah) Surratt and Dakota (Jonathan) Surratt-Kendall, 1 daughter-in-law, Tammie Surratt, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, his brother Willie (Barb) Surratt, sister Betty House, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois Maddox, 2 grandchildren, and son Garland E. Surratt, Jr.
Garland retired from the United States Army and worked in construction for many years. He attended the
Mason City United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, leather work, building things,
